Hey Doods,
I've been chatting online with a guy named Doug Kibbey. He was a Scout with the 101st Airborne in Phu Bai and had the opportunity to take alot of great pics of the joint. He's given me permission to use his work to enhance our site. So here is some of his stuff... |
ABOUT Doug:
I was in Thua Thien province too...and down in MRIII. Wasn't ASA, though, but an 11D (scout) and RTO with D troop, 2/17th Cav, 101 Abn at Camp Eagle and Phu Bai...later a tank cmdr.with G troop, 2/11th ACR down south. I have a lot of stuff posted over at www.vhpamuseum.org ..see, 11th Cav, 17th Cav (2nd Sqdn. and D troop of same), Places & Bases, etc. have a lot of images of the PhuBai and Eagle area... |

For all you gun truck lovers out there...
"The Rebel"...formerly "The Assassin"...the only gun truck in 'Nam with this unique 'downward sloping' armor applied to a 5-ton cargo. Used for convoy escort, in this case with 57th TC, the 'Nam Nomads, I believe. I caught it here at Phu Bai in late '71"
