<-- At DLI in El Paso. Thank God I wrote down the names on the back of the picture! Across the back row are Heidman, Kearnes, Dennis Mitchell (me), Wayne (Whitey) McCulloch, Stuart Brinkley. Front kneeling are left to right, John Shelton and Charles (Buzzard) McDonald. Memories? Don't remember much of Heidman or Kearnes. Whitey and I roomed together at DLI and briefly in Phu Bai before he DEROS'd. Brinkley was pretty helpful after I drove a motorcycle through the stone retaining wall on Scenic Drive and spent 4 months in and out of the hospital. Buzzard was nothing short of crazy. Nicest guy you would want to meet, friend to all, but already a SERIOUS drinking problem. John Shelton was also cool and usually not seen without his buddy. |

DLI again. Can only remember the names of Ferguson, kneeling on
left in glasses, Brinkley front left, and Heidman standing to the right of
Co Luong Thi (Kim) Dung. What a sweetheart. I actually dated her for
awhile after I got out of the hospital and was recycled. Even took her and
her friend Co Lan up to Enid on a two week summer break. They were sure
news to all the Okies!

This is Wayne (Whitey) McCulloch eating rice and fish with our Mama San's. If we provided the meat, they would gather veggies and cook for us. Found out later it was weeds from the side of Rt. 1. |

Pretty decent shot of the 8th from the air. Fairly good resolution. If
your browser will let you zoom in, you can pick up quite a bit of detail
across the entire FS.
