This picture of Mama-San doing laundry was taken outside what we thought was "The Old French Barracks." It wasn't until I found your web site 30 years later that I learned these building had actually been put up by U.S. Army Engineers.

1969 XXIV Corps area

Had just arrived in Phu Bai and thought this picture was hilarious. Little did we know, 55 gallon drums or empty 155 ammo canisters sunk half-way into the ground were SOP for urinals in VN, it was the three sided privacy screen that was unusual. (FNG)
